As per the Amrita Leave Policy, faculty and staff members are allowed to request short-duration permissions via email, limited to a maximum of one hour per day and not exceeding two hours per month. Such permissions can be availed only twice in a month. Once the permission is approved, it is the responsibility of the individual to apply for special attendance in the portal within the next two days. Special attendance can be applied under two circumstances: first, when a faculty or staff member arrives late or leaves early with prior approval, provided the duration stays within the permitted limit; and second, in cases of missed biometric punch-in or punch-out. In both instances, the special attendance request must be submitted within two days of the occurrence. The cumulative maximum limit for applying special attendance, whether for permission or punch-related issues is three times per month.
